To all those who registered for and/or participated in the 2006 Echo to Kirkwood Race & Tour (2006 Kirkwood to Kirkwood Race & Tour)—
We are sorry that due to safety concerns for both the participants and staff, we were forced to change the course this year. The safety of everyone involved in the race is and will always be a primary focus. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate in making it easy for everyone to attend the event either.
The El Dorado Nordic Ski Patrol sincerely appreciates the understanding of the participants that we have talked with via email, on the phone, and in person at the event. We did attempt to contact everyone by email or phone to advise them of the change in the course, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. The ongoing support of our many loyal and long-time race participants and new entrants is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you next year.
If you are not already aware, the El Dorado Nordic Ski Patrol is made up of an all-volunteer membership that provides public education and training in winter safety, provides winter backcountry trail support for the Eldorado National Forest, and responds to search and rescue needs throughout California and Nevada. Patrol members provide all of their own equipment, travel, and training. As you can imagine, it costs us a great deal to conduct the race and any profits in excess of these expenses go to support our organization.
